The agency sent out an SOS email to find alternate accommodation. Needless to say nobody came to our rescue. Not even my best friend of 33 years volunteered to take us in, because her husband and daughter were appalled! What if we brought the fleas?
Almost a week later the agency suggested we should move into a hotel and hold the exchange partners responsible for the extra costs accrued! Duh! Since there is nothing in their contract, no proviso that is legally binding--good luck with that. Somebody who blatantly lies about owning a pet? As we say in German: I wouldn't trust them form here to there...
All we could do is inform them of the fiasco we encountered and file an official complaint which I'm in the middle of doing. If the exchnage partners don't respond within 2 weeks or if this happens again, their membership will be terminated. How did they get a "Gold Member" certificate in the first place?
In all fairness, the exchangers offered to have a professional exterminator0/fumigator sent over and take care of the boat. Thanks very much, who wants to be exposed to these chemicals?
